🔄 Sunday Sync: Notion & The All-in-One Advantage

Happy Sunday, Notion Legends!

After an eventful week of major developments, the Notion space has never looked brighter. Notion’s recent updates, like forms, layouts, Notion Mail, and the highly anticipated offline mode, point to how powerful a fully connected workspace will be in the next 5-10 years.

While I’d love to dive into each update, doing so wouldn’t save you time, and that’s what this newsletter is all about.

Instead, I want to give a perspective on why nearly every major company is moving toward an all-in-one workspace, and why Notion is the tool for anyone serious about productivity and information connectivity.

The real power of Notion isn’t the smooth block layouts or sharing information in record time. It’s that a digital workspace gets significantly better the more you use it.

🔑 Key Highlights

It’s been a landmark week, and this week’s issue is all about expanding your understanding of Notion’s real power.

We’ll be going over:

  • Why Notion’s connected workspace is more valuable than ever.
  • New features on the horizon, including some exciting Notion-powered automations.
  • Announcements you don’t want to miss, including a new chatbot on our site for all things Notion.

So, let’s get right into it.

🎓 Why Notion’s All-In-One Space Just Makes Sense

If you’re like most people, you may wonder how much can you really do with Notion. These updates probably have you asking that question even more.

The truth is, answering that question will take some time as people connect like never before. That question only exists because of Notion’s perfect execution of a digital workspace.

From Microsoft Loop and Zoom Docs to Canva and Slack, we can clearly see that a digital workspace is a powerful way to organize any information you can imagine. If a physical workspace is how we organize our people, activities, and information, a digital workspace does the same thing without limits.

The old way of working goes like this:

  1. Someone creates an Excel sheet for a specific function in their business.
  2. They share that Excel sheet with whoever needs it.
  3. Only the creator knows how to find, update, or fully use it.

This isn’t a huge problem if you’re in the same office—just walk over to their desk, disrupt their work, and get the answer you need. But what if that person’s out of the office or the team grows?

All of a sudden, having a system that relies on a single Spreadsheet Master doesn’t feel very efficient.

Thus, the digital workspace is born.

Instead of creating separate documents that only a few people know how to use or find, a digital workspace acts as a virtual office where everyone can see, edit, and work on information as if we were sitting in the same room.

All tools, documents, supporting resources, and even cute dog photos can be found side-by-side or in a different part of the workspace entirely.

But it doesn’t stop there.

If all you needed was simple access and collaboration, OneNote or Google Docs would work just fine.

The most valuable feature of a digital workspace like Notion is that nothing is ever wasted.

Unlike old-school folders, Notion is inherently built for growth. As soon as you add a block, create a database, or capture information, you can find it, reuse it, and make it better anytime you want, from anywhere you are.

  • Made a process for onboarding team members? Improve it in real time.
  • Completed a task before? Read the notes you left along the way.
  • Tracking quarterly objectives? Compare it with the 4 quarters before it.

It’s this “nothing goes to waste” style that makes Notion the most valuable digital tool in existence.

The more you put into it today, the more you get out of it tomorrow.

And the best part? Notion is here to stay.

So, when you ask, “How much can I really do with Notion?” the answer is simple: as much as you want.

📣 Notion News & Announcements

After the Make With Notion event announced some of the biggest news in Notion’s history, the online space is still battling to decide which feature they like the most.

We have Notion Mail, Notion Forms, Layouts, custom emojis, Offline Mode coming, and every other stacked feature. But what do they all have in common?

They all set the stage for what a connected workspace can really do.

If you missed last week’s recap, be sure to catch up here so you’re up to speed on all the latest changes.

🚀 Project Updates

To help lower the stress that comes with Notion’s infinity capabilities, I’m excited to announce that a new Notion chatbot is coming to my website!

It’s designed to stay up-to-date and answer any Notion question you may have. Whether you’re setting up a database to post content directly from Notion, or can’t remember how to invite a guest, the Notion chatbot will have everything you need for a smooth Notion experience.

We’re putting these new capabilities to work across several projects:

  1. Chatbot Launch: The chatbot will be live on the website soon. Intended to guide you through Notion’s features and answer your setup questions in real time. It’s the quickest way to get the right answer in a flexible space.
  2. Formula Automation: Among the recent updates, formula automations are without a doubt the most powerful addition to the team. Using formula automations can cut your work by 50-75% or more. No exaggeration.

Let’s say you create a sub-task and want to add the same information as the parent task.

Before formula automations, you would have to manually add the team member, due date, project, and priority to match the parent task.

After formula automations, you can create a single automation to carry down the same team member, due date, project, and priority of the parent task from simply creating a sub-task.

From 5 clicks down to 1.
You just cut your time by 80%…

Hands down the most powerful Notion update.

  3. Company Wiki Project: To take advantage of the amazing new updates, we’re looking for 2 teams that are interested in a custom company wiki free of charge.

This will be an organized, all-in-one hub where your team can access everything they need in a single place. We’ll start with the information you already have and build it into a connected wiki that grows with your company.

Just reply to this email if you’re interested.
